The NanoPi R4SE is a high-end mini-router from FriendlyElec designed for edge computing with dual Gigabit Ethernet ports. Compact in size at just 66 x 66 mm, it is powered via a USB Type-C port and supports multiple operating systems such as FriendlyWRT, Ubuntu, and Armbian. At its core, the NanoPi R4SE uses Rockchip’s high-performance RK3399 SoC, which can reach frequencies up to 1.8GHz. It comes equipped with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, 32GB eMMC storage, and supports dynamic frequency scaling for efficient performance.
For connectivity and expansion, the NanoPi R4SE offers dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and two USB 3.0 ports, compatible with external hard drives, 4G modules, HD cameras, and USB WiFi modules. It also includes a MASK key that allows the board to enter USB installation mode when pressed. To improve durability and cooling, FriendlyElec has released a precision-engineered CNC metal case with excellent heat dissipation. In testing, the NanoPi R4SE maintained stable performance without frequency throttling when paired with this case, making it reliable for demanding applications.
